Alternative indie-pop dreamboat, Meilyr Jones, that’s “‘May’ like the month and ‘lyr’ like the word ‘lyric’ is going on tour, and you should go see him. I will be, but don’t let that put you off.

I first heard Meilyr’s music in the form of his single ‘How To Recognise A Work Of Art‘ on Adam Walton‘s BBC Radio Wales show and instantly fell in love. Maybe it was my love for 80s style pop vocals drawing me towards his gloriously resonant voice. Maybe it was the sweet, uplifting melody of the song itself. Maybe it was that tremendous brass section. Whatever it was, I’m glad it happened.

I’m not, however, best pleased about having to wait until March for Meilyr’s album ‘2013, featuring ‘How To Recognise A Work Of Art‘, ‘Don Juan‘, ‘Refugees‘ and more. If these beautifully crafted songs are anything to go by, Meilyr’s album should be not only a work of art, but a masterpiece.
