Introducing: Fran Palermo

Current situation: rainy day, being ill, wrapped up in blanket, and sipping hot tea while watching my turtles turtle-ing around the house… Now is the right time to daydream about sunny beaches, surfing the waves, and jungle adventures. If singing “undah da sea” isn’t your thing, though, here we have Fran Palermo bringing beach goth vibes to this upcoming summer.

Following the release of various EPs, the band finally released their debut album last week. As much as we are really not keen about anyone jumping on the self-titled bandwagon, the songs of the album show no sign of lacking creativity.

Their method of using a vast army of exotic instruments along with the usual guitar-piano-drums-bass-synth set-up takes the listener on a special musical journey. It shows how well traditional musical elements taken from different cultures work with modern day’s music, and that we actually need such fresh sounds in our music libraries.

Take a listen to Fran Palermo’s debut below, and share your thoughts in the comments!
