Few months ago, we got to introduce you to a cool Hungarian band called Ivan & The Parazol, who are living the rather busy life of rock stars these days: setting foot in the UK music scene; supporting Deep Purple at one of their arena shows; and just returning from SXSW. We wonder how they had time at all to move into the studio.
But they did, and ‘Mode Bizarre‘ (out now) turned out to be a very impressing sophomore record. The opener ‘Let Go’ definitely puts you in the mood to dance once you hear it, and we bet you’ll look damn good on the dance-floor while doing so.
‘Wish You The Best’ and ‘Don’t Wanna Die’ are the songs to carry signs of a signature Parazol-sound, which is shaping slowly but surely. The most memorable song musically is, however, ‘Betrayed’. Those blues-rock elements come through the best here – and what a guitar solo! Also, one just feels the urge of suddenly joining Sons of Anarchy for a nice bike ride.
The rest of the album offers a bunch of feel-good tracks like ‘Together’ ‘Girl’ and ‘Rock’n Roll On The Floor’, but ‘Love Is Like (Bourbon On The Rocks)’ is the tune of hopeless daydreamers. We get a female guest vocal on ‘Room 54’, which brings more darkness into the song and is in perfect harmony with the voice of singer Ivan Vitaris.
Last but not least, ‘I Got A Feeling That I’m Underneath’ is the song that brings the most emotions out of the listener. Visionary, it makes you yearn after chilled festival vibes and the rock and roll era you never actually lived in.
‘Mode Bizarre’ is available to stream for 24 hours only from the day of the release. If you listened to the record and liked it, or missed out on the stream, it’s ridiculously cheap to buy here.
