Music Discoveries: Echo Park

The internet is a wonderful place. Fact. Each day, you get distracted by the crazy cats of the internet, the obsessive lists of Buzzfeed, the new episode of your favourite TV-series on Netflix and what not. While we love to cry about a video about baby sloths out of happiness, we still manage to do useful things somehow, such as discovering new bands.

Echo Park (Surrey, UK) was brought to our attention recently with their debut EP, ‘Deluge‘. They’ve set the benchmark high with this four track release. Despite being a start out band, they have the potential of going much further. ‘Circles’- which is the band’s debut single – is a perfect example for it: the lyrics and sound are well done, and the chorus is catchy. It was clearly meant to be for radio play IF radios put more effort into new talents.  ‘Shadow Days’, the heaviest song of the EP is the other favourite. Its intensity along with ‘Circles’ brings a nice balance into the whole material next to the more melancholic and emotionally packed songs , ‘This Life’ and ‘Miles’. The music all-together contains elements that remind of Mallory Knox, some of the new material of Our Last Night or the now-broken-up Futures. If you’re into any of those bands, you’re sure to like Echo Park as well. Or give it a try at last.
