Welcome to Alt Scribe

As Elvis Costello once mused, “Writing about music is like dancing about architecture – it’s a really stupid thing to want to do”. Setting up a new music website in an already overcrowded market is probably even more stupid. Yet we find ourselves here, pretending we are the Eiffel Tower and alluding to The Gherkin with a rond de jambe. To some, it’s pointless. To others, it matters. We are the others.

Sometimes dance and architecture work together – take parkour, for example. Sometimes it doesn’t. The reason why people think that writing about music is “stupid” is because a lot of the time, it is.

We’ve all read about so-and-so singer’s new girlfriend, or XYZ rocker’s new haircut. Some of us have even written about them but we want to change.

Alt Scribe is here to say goodbye to the bullshit, break away from the mundane and ditch the regurgitated press releases. We’re not just here to write about music, we’re also here to talk about it.

Welcome to Alt Scribe.
